Cafés visited on Rideouts
This page is going to capture the various places that we have stopped for lunch, tea's, coffee's, beers etc whilst on our rides out. Mainly in the UK, because if I start to blog every place that we've stopped at whilst travelling on our tours, I'd be here until Christmas, and it's only the 24th August 2026.....
The restaurants or cafés abroad are captured in the the blogs relating to the many tours we have completed.
Our favourites still remain - The Hangin' Pizzeria in Betws-y-Coed and Davy Jones Locker in Barmouth. The food we choose is incredibly predictable; Pizza number 7 in the Hangin' Pizzeria (their take on a hot pepperoni) and Chilli Con Carne with chips in Davy Jones Locker. We have discovered some incredible places, so it will be interesting to see how many can get up to and which will come out on top.

Hangin' Pizzeria - Betws-y-coed❤️❤️
This is our favourite place to go for a 1st ride out of the year. The Pizza's are amazing, place is lovely in the early months, sitting inside and in the summer the outside tables are just a delight - they do have heaters and blankets outside as well. It's very busy and waiting a while is normal, but they are fast and efficient and very friendly! Betws is a bikers' paradise. Many people meet here and then ride the fantastic Snowdonia mountains, or Crimea pass, or go out to the coast. 
Very good for Sunday lunch - it always seems packed when we've been and quite honestly the food was lovely. Nothing special, just honest to goodness food in what appears to be a very popular place to dine. 
Now this place was closed for a while and every time we went passed it and wanted to go in, there was nobody about - and then things changed. It opened and WOW the food was incredible. It's pretty expensive for a bikers' lunch, but you cannot knock the menu and the quality. I think we would like to go there for an evening and have a proper meal. Situated right on the coast so you're overlooking the Irish Sea and up the coats to Lŷn and the views of the Snondonia Mountain range - definitely will be going again!
Closed for now (2026) which is a real shame - probably one of the best breakfasts' around. MASSIVE!!!! A place where an enormous number of bikers would meet, chat and eat. We do hope someone takes it over and opens up the café again....
Recommend Ma Baker's all day long. Breaky brilliant, place small but packed with happy eaters. A lovely pit stop, or a quick ride out for us as we're only 40 mins away and can continue to Shrewsbury and some of the Shropshire roads we love so much. 
Yes, yes and more yes!!! Situated in the middle of Craven Arms with plenty of parking. Small looking place but a bit of a Tardice inside. Food jolly good and certainly appear to be a central place for bikers to meet, only in small numbers though.
This place used to be really great - the food was very cheap; £4.99 for a good breakfast. Now we accept that that is actually too cheap and not sure how they made money, but we went earlier in the year (March - 2026) and it had gone to £10 but with only 1/2 the ingredients and the quality was very poor!!!! My feeling was they were becoming too complacent and the bikers that met at A&D motors would just keep coming and paying. We have a different view and we love eating breaky on a ride out, but not when the quality isn't good. Sorry Sam you need to do better!
You will see this place in many of our blogs - it's just fantastic. The Chilli and Chips are massive and perfectly cooked. If you can get a table inside on a cold day it is just a perfect setting. Riding out to Barmouth for us is about 2 hours and then you get the privilege of riding up the coast north along the beautiful coast line. 
Now this is a chippy and a half!!!!! It's a well worth visit. Fresh, fresh, fresh all the way and beautifully cooked to order.
Only stopped once, but hope they keep going as the Ice-cream is bloomin' lovely!!! Eat it on the pavement outside or on a couple of little chairs they have laid out. Enjoyed the brief stop. Texaco Garage - Machynlleth ☕️ and 🫖 only
Strange that we put a Texaco Garage on our list of places to stop. But they do a mean cup of tea in the service station, with plenty of seating available. Cheap, cheerful a pit stop for onward travel. Oh and by the time we get to Machynlleth we're usually dying for a pee, so it's a good pee stop as well!!!
Don't want to appear to come over as a snob, but this place attracts some pretty shady characters. It's very cheap but not necessarily cheerful. Maybe it was the day we visited, or maybe we should have looked at the sign 1st to see that not much care is taken; we did not enjoy the lunch at all - albeit we only had some dried up cake and a brew. Didn't feel like we could leave our gear and go for a wee, so we left pretty sharpish. We love Llandudno, but not this place
Have stopped several times here - it is a really beautiful café and the food is lovely. Had the home made soup last time and well worth it. Very nice place to stop at for a brew and bite to eat. 
Stopped for soup - we had a bowl that a mouse would have been a been depressed about. If you're going to make a nice soup - which it was, and you are going to charge £8.50 then jolly well give me a nice bowl of soup, not just a thimble full. Very disappointed as it's a lovely pub. I think they didn't care as we couldn't get an indoor table, had to sit on the benches outside in our biking gear - another case of pre-judging a book by it's cover and a bit of complacency I think....
Absolutely must visit the Ship - it's a fabulous place right on the beach in Red Wharf Bay, Anglesey. Quite often have live music outside in the summer, the food has always been excellent. It does get very busy in the summer, but early months of the year riding down the lane and stopping here is great and not too busy at all.
Yeah, good for drinks, but very commercialised and not very personable. Trying not to be too snobby, as we're not snobby at all, but the place is designed to pile high and sell (not so) cheap!! The beer is good though and it's a go to place for beer in Betws when we feel like a cold drink. 
This place does the best sandwiches - ham salad bap!!! It's as big as the plate and we just love it! Have only really eaten there once very recently, but will soon become a favourite place to ride out to. We love riding to Bala and now we know this exists as a brilliant pit stop, will visit much more often. 
Excellent for ride out for Sunday lunch. Located at the top of the village you get a great view if you eat outside. It's probably worth booking before you go as it gets very busy and we're not surprised as the quality of the food is outstanding. 
This has come from nowhere, we have only stopped to tea and coffee, but the food looks pretty good and it seems to get busier and busier each time we pass. Must try again soon.
Did NOT enjoy our lunch there - maybe it was because we turned up without a reservation and they crammed us in, maybe they do not like bikers turning up? Not sure what it was but whilst it used to be a great place to go, we will not be visiting again - they gave us the arse end of the Sunday lunch as well, so that was disappointing. Now one seemed to care, so we didn't stay too long...
Great food, great place to stop over for a bite to eat. Always busy, which is fine by us, as the busier it is, the better the reputation. We have been a few times and will continue to go - it helps that you can park your bike right outside in the middle of the road!!!
Closed, although not surprised as it was run by kids who didn't really care much, or that's what it seemed like. It is a shame as it's a prefect setting and just enough ride time for us to get thirsty for a drink. We do hope it opens again, but this time maybe get better staff to run it..webp)
Pile it high sell it cheap and get people coming back time after time. Very consistently good, spacious café, more like a truck stop than anything, but fantastic for bikers. Right at the bottom of the swiggly road from Newtown so (for us) we've had a couple of hours ride time so perfectly located. It's a great place!
Couldn't swing a cat in this place, but what they can do is make plaice!!!! Oh yes, a fabulous chippy to ride out to. We have to eat the chips sitting on a wall just down Loushers Lane, but that's part of the fun of it. Maybe not go on a wet day, but can certainly recommend for a chippy lunch.Cross Foxes - Dolgellau❤️

On the banks of the reseviour, you get a great view. It's a fabulous ride up to get to the visitor centre and well worth a visit. Lot's of parking, food pretty decent - not much choice, but teas and coffees great! A good pit stop to ride through and have a quick break..webp)
Bag of Shite - "nuff said!!!!!!!!! Maybe we got it on a very very bad day, but the food was dreadful.webp)
Brilliant for a cup of tea and maybe a piece of cake!!! Right on the front of the shore with a specific bikers parking area adjacent. Been many times, will go many more times! Think it's mainly run by students all having a great time! On a sunny day, there's nowhere nicer. On a rainy day, it's miserable, but still worth going..webp)
Great for tea, coffee and cakes, but jeez, they need to sort out their service and ordering system. You do have to wait quite a long time and god forbid there's a little queue before you get there, as you may be a while! Pannini's are very good though!.webp)
We always thought this was a bit scruffy as the C in the name had fallen down, we didn't realise this is part of their logo. Have to say their fish chips and in particular the curry sauce is absolutely fabulous!! Served in a box, plenty of seating, very clean, very fresh, plenty of it!!! Love this place.
Closed amid Vale of Rheidol development plans- sorry this is not open, but signs are looking as though it may be refurbished and opened again. Went for drinks here many times on our way to or from Aberystwyth. Found an alternative in Devils' Bridge but will return here if it re-opensClosed - great shame as it was very good and one of our main go to places, especially in Shrewsbury!!
This is extremely posh place and we have stopped a couple of times on the bike. The setting is fantastic and the menu looks great. On one of the occasions (the last one), one burger was done to perfection, whilst the other was a bit of leather taken from the back of the sofa. We should have said something but didn't, so more fool us!! However jokes' on them as we will not be returning if they can't be bothered to spot the difference and the chef is prepared to send out a bit of leather!! 
Cannot believe this place is permanently closed - it was such a brilliant place to ride to and have breaky! We really hope someone takes over it and re-opens as a destination café.
Closed - this was the 1st ride out we ever did and enjoyed going here; however when we drove out with Stanley (our beloved dog) they turned us away as they were dog unfriendly, so we never went back. They closed soon after, so maybe they should have been dog friendly and attracted a lot more people in what is a rural location full of dog owners, farmers and animal loving people - shame on them!
Well what a little gem!! You almost miss it when you're riding past and it was one that we stopped at by chance as we couldn't find anywhere to for a cup of tea and saw this out of the corner of our eye. Very friendly, full of locals chatting and the cakes were amazing!!! The bacon butties looked great as well, but we'd already had breaky! Inside was so clean, tidy and welcoming - loved it!!!
Despite all the hype the lakeside café was a bit of a disappointment. Mainly the food wasn't brilliant - the place itself was fine, and the views tremendous, but the breaky was not brill. I would suggest fairly cheapish ingredients don't help - we're not connoisseurs but we do know a good breaky when you get one. It will be a place we ride to and have a cup of tea though as it's very close to our all time favourite roads in North Wales A470 and the Crimea Pass down to Betws-y-Coed
Never stopped here before 2026, but will be stoping there again. They make a mean cup tea and fantastic cakes. It's a perfect pit stop if you want to ride the Elan Valley at it is situated at he beginning (or the end depending on which way you've ridden around)
Shame we have to resort to a supermarket for breaky, as we normally like a little café somewhere, but needs must and we couldn't find anywhere else on the specific day we went. Have to say though, which is why we have included in the page, the breaky was enormous, very good value for money and very well made - so thanks Morrisons Leominster, we enjoyed it.
